Support for Changes livelihood of Disabled Women

Small livelihood investments can create sustainable  benefit

Protibandhi Shishu Shiekkha O Paricharja Samity (PROSHIPS) is a women-led, non-profit organization working in the remote northern region of Bangladesh, where many families face poverty, climate-related challenges, and limited livelihood opportunities. Women with disabilities are among the most vulnerable members of the community, often experiencing social exclusion and financial hardship. Through the generous support of GlobalGiving donors, PROSHIPS continues to empower women with disabilities by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities.

During this reporting period, one of our project participants successfully completed the first year of her home-based goat farming initiative. At the beginning of the project, she received a healthy female goat as livelihood support. With dedication, proper care, and the skills gained through guidance from PROSHIPS, she has successfully raised the goat over the past year.

We are delighted to share that the goat has recently given birth to three healthy kids, marking an important milestone for the participant and her family. This achievement represents more than an increase in livestock—it is a meaningful step toward greater financial security, self-reliance, and hope for the future. The participant plans to continue expanding her small goat farm, which will help generate additional household income and improve her family's living conditions.

The beneficiary expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the GlobalGiving community. She shared that before receiving this support, she had very limited opportunities to earn an income because of her disability and financial constraints. Today, she feels more confident, respected, and optimistic about her future. She believes that goat farming has given her a practical and sustainable way to support her family while working from home.

Project Impact : Strengthened the economic resilience of a woman with a disability through home-based livestock farming., Successfully increased livestock assets from one goat to four through the birth of three healthy kids. Improved household income opportunities and long-term livelihood security. Enhanced the participant's confidence, independence, and social inclusion within her community. Demonstrated how small livelihood investments can create sustainable, long-term benefits for women with disabilities.
