Fail Forward Contest 2017 GlobalGiving

Indonesian Species Conservation Program (ISCP)

 Introduction:

ISCP was founded in 2011 by Rudianto Sembiring . ISCP maintains a rescue and rehabilitation center which currently houses for local wildlife in Indonesia commondly and specially in North Sumatra ,Indonesia. ISCP have permit for Sumatran Laughingthrush (Garrulax bicolor) Nov 2012- Nov 2017 and MoU (Memorandum of understanding) for Slow loris (Nictycebus coucang) March 2016- March 2021 with the Department of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation North Sumatera or In Indonesia we called Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Sumatra Utara (BKSDA-SU).

ISCP’s vision is:

1.To rescue and protection of animals from the dead either due from poaching, torture and others that lead to the extinction of the species of the earth’s surface by involving the participation people and participation of others community.

2.The realization of Biodiversity preservation in Indonesia ,specially in North sumatera.

ISCP’s mission is:

  1. Rare and Endemic Animal Rescue Of Trade and Illegal Hunting
  2. To protect biodiversity rich areas in north Sumatra and endangered wildlife.
  3. To bring local communities to appreciate and care for their local environment.
  4. To preserve the flora and fauna in north Sumatra where ISCP works.
  5. To bring alternative livelihoods to the Community Economic Development around

Protected Forests in north Sumatra that will help to preserve these forests.

  1. Organizing Preservation of Endangered Plant Species
  2. Conducting education and public awareness campaigns for the conservation of endangered species
  3. Investigation, criticism and advocacy for the management of animals at the zoo that bad
  4. Alternatives to the Community Economic Development around Forest.

History of my Failed before move on will tell the story bellow:

Since March 2016 ISCP got permit from wildlife Authority of North Sumatra for Slow loris rehabilitation from confiscation and rescue and before there are some Czech individuals as before ISCP volunteer wouldlike to take over all our infrastructure and facility in Bandarbaru village,Sibolangit region as they are under umbrela ISCP but they would like to colonize ISCP as all funding must go to their personal account and then distribute as they want to ISCP acount ,so because I don’t like system like this we cut cooperation with them and they use local holligan to take all infrasture and facility ISCP center in Bandarbaru village on august 2016. Sometimes violence is a common way to get things done in Indonesia by Indonesians. I am saddened by the fact that foreigners who know better before through their local partner there, would make use of this Indonesian way to get what they want and that is true and honesty.

So on middle 2016 I really almost desperate as ISCP have no funding sponsor anymore,no facility center and etc,we just have only permit/MOU for slow loris rehabilitation center legally from Wildlife authorithy..And I still have big spirit support from my another local and international friends who support me not be desperate.I remember on 2015 I ever make crowdfunding through GlobalGiving for Nias Hill Myna Program,so I try on september 2016 start rise up my spirit by make crowdfunding for building slow loris rehabilitation center and I fight on this crowdfunding campaign through share it in social media facebook, asking my friends local and international to donate.Step by step helping also by my friend campaign Bev luff, Abby Gee, Robert Hii, Michelle Desilets, Annete Gartland and others as they help me share our crowdfunding campaign, starting july 2017 we start rent the land and building slow loris rehabilitation center in Rumah Pilpil village, Sibolangit region, North Sumatra province.

So that is a story of my failed before and hope this can be stimulate other person tobe keep on going spirit and move on if any failed in their life.

Thank you

Warm regards

Rudianto Sembiring
