After 14 years of the Syrian crisis, this project supports Al-Salam Sports Club, serving 400 boys and girls with physical, visual, and hearing disabilities through cultural, social, and sports programs. Despite producing regional and international champions, the club now struggles with unsafe facilities and damaged equipment. The project will restore the space and provide safe, inclusive rehabilitation and training services.
After 14 years of crisis, children with physical, visual, and hearing disabilities in Homs lack safe access to sports and rehabilitation. Al-Salam Sports Club serves more than 400 registered children, yet most cannot attend because the gym is damaged, poorly lit, and equipped with broken or unsafe machines. The lack of a functioning solar system and adaptive sports tools puts children at risk and prevents them from receiving essential training and support.
This project will rehabilitate the damaged gym, repair walls and flooring, and install a reliable solar system to provide safe lighting. It will also supply adaptive sport equipment and essential accessories for children with physical, visual, and hearing disabilities. By creating a safe, accessible, and well-equipped environment, more than 400 registered children will be able to train, rebuild strength, improve mobility, and participate in inclusive sports programs.
By restoring a safe, inclusive, and fully equipped sports facility, this project will create long-term opportunities for children with disabilities to build strength, confidence, and independence. Continuous access to adaptive sports will improve mobility, emotional well-being, and social integration. The club will also regain its role as a community hub that nurtures future athletes, promotes disability inclusion, and supports lasting recovery and resilience in Syria Homs.
