Children with disabilities in Syria continue to face significant barriers to inclusion, participation, and access to opportunities. Through this project, Equity and Empowerment (EE) aims to contribute to a more inclusive environment where children with disabilities are recognized for their abilities and have opportunities to participate in their communities with dignity.
Since launching this GlobalGiving project, our fundraising through the platform has remained modest, with $21 raised toward the $5,000 goal. While this amount has not been sufficient to implement the full activities originally envisioned under the campaign, the issue at the heart of the project remains an important part of EE's broader commitment to disability inclusion.
During this period, EE continued engaging in disability-inclusive programming in Syria. One important example was our work in Homs, where EE supported the rehabilitation of Al-Salam Sports Club for Persons with Disabilities. The initiative contributed to creating a safer and more accessible environment where persons with disabilities can participate in sports and community activities.
This experience has reinforced an important lesson for our team: inclusion is not only about providing assistance. It is also about creating spaces where persons with disabilities can participate, develop their abilities, build confidence, and be visible members of their communities.
We remain committed to the objectives behind this GlobalGiving project and will continue seeking opportunities and partnerships that can expand meaningful support for children and persons with disabilities in Syria.
We are grateful to everyone who supported this project through GlobalGiving. Every contribution represents trust in the possibility of a more inclusive future, and we deeply value that trust.
