Building on your generous support, the FAR team continued to provide legal aid, social and emotional support and information to asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and stateless persons in Bulgaria in different locations of the country.
From October to December 2024 a total of 1854 people received comprehensible legal information and support on navigating complex procedures for asylum family reunification. This included laying out information regarding refugees and migrants' rights and obligations and legal representation before administrative courts and state organs. In addition, FAR cultural mediators provided social and emotional support as well as information regarding various aspects of everyday life in Bulgaria, such as housing, education, health and medical issues, social security, etc. Their own lived experience and profound understanding of the problems faced by refugees and migrants in Bulgaria, helps them to provide invaluable support to those in need.
The FAR team strives to reach our beneficiaries no matter where they are based in the country. This allows us to support some of the most vulnerable populations who otherwise don’t have anyone to turn to, like people in immigration detention centers.
From October to December 2024 a total of 81,460 people have received trustworthy information from our web-based self-help tool.
One of the most vulnerable groups among refugees and migrants are children, especially those who are unaccompanied or separated from their parents. FAR works to guarantee their fundamental rights to education, family life, adequate reception conditions, protection from all forms of violence, enduring their physical and mental well-being. FAR aims to further improve the capacity of people working with them in order to provide the best possible care.
Our team believes that migrants and refugees bring with them experiences, skills and abilities that can benefit the progress of the societies in which they wish to settle. Therefore, FAR also continues to build on its employment platform, which enables migrants and employers to connect and match.
FAR, which means “Lighthouse” in Bulgarian language, is often the only light that refugees and migrants see in the very dark situation they are at the moment. Help us to continue spreading this light, help us to continue giving hope to those who need it the most!
