The Foundation for Access to Rights - FAR is a Bulgarian NGO, which provides legal aid to migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and stateless people in situations of system-based obstacles in the access to their fundamental rights such as asylum, safety, liberty, healthcare, family unity, labor, prohibition of inhuman and degrading treatment, etc. We work towards solutions that can ultimately enhance wider social justice.
Bulgaria is a state with low administrative capacity and a populism-dominated political scene in terms of migration. As a result, migrants, asylum seekers and refugees face many difficulties regarding access to rights. Many individual cases are often overlooked or delayed by months due to complicated administrative procedures and integration barriers like access to housing, education, healthcare, work, etc. This vacuum means that they cannot exercise their fundamental rights.
The Foundation for Access to Rights - FAR provides legal support for migrants, refugees and stateless persons in Bulgaria. The legal support includes laying out information regarding migrants' rights and obligations, how to navigate asylum procedures and procedures for family reunification. Our lawyers serve as legal representatives before administrative courts and state organs, tailoring the support for each person's needs. The funding will help us continue our work 00in providing legal aid.
It is extremely hard for migrants, refugees and stateless persons to navigate the system in Bulgaria without legal aid.
