The month of March brought with it the Telugu New Year and marked the start of many initiatives. We welcomed a new set of students as they took admissions and celebrated the success of our outgoing tenth graders. As many new activities took place, the highlights were our board results, which brought us smiles, visits from dignitaries, and other significant activities. Focusing on academics, vocational skills, health and social skills, read on for all the details.
Health and wellness
The welfare of our students is paramount for us, and we are blessed to have collaborations that feel the same way. Feeding India, a Zomato initiative, has been providing four nutritious meals to students and staff at the Residential High School on a daily basis. On March 5, Mr. Anish Menon, Program Manager at Feeding India, even visited the BCT Residential High School campus. Here he toured the campus, discussed progress with the BCT core team members and even interacted with the students, mess staff, and school faculty,
In other news, a comprehensive Health Camp was also conducted at the school premises on April 3. Held in collaboration with Young Indians (Yi), general health check-ups were conducted for the 108 students. A special screening for skin allergies, and free medicine distribution, were also taken up. The visiting doctors also conducted an awareness session for girl students on personal hygiene, helping them understand essential practices for maintaining good health.
On April 17, an Eye Check-up Camp was organized in collaboration with Mohsin Eye Bank and Visakha Eye Hospital. 108 students and 10 staff members underwent comprehensive eye examinations. The initiative was instrumental in helping students assess their vision and take preventive steps toward better eye health
Prayers for Victory
As is the practice every year, this year too, the Vijaya homam was held for students appearing for tenth-grade examinations. Under this initiative, students come together to offer prayers for victory in their examinations. The puja was held on March 9 at the Sri Dwimukha Kalyana Vinayaka Swami temple in BCT campus, and 502 students attended. This included tenth graders from BCT Residential High School, along with tenth graders from the nearby villages.

Innovation hub for students
The start of February marked the setting up of an Innovation Hub for the students of BCT Residential High School. This laboratory will provide students with the space to generate ideas and unleash their creativity. This Innovation Hub is supported by the generous donation of M/s JS Sastry, JS Prasad and their family in the memory of their parents.
Under the initiative of starting Innovation Hubs at the BCT Residential High School, BCT team members participated in a training program at Agastya International Foundation in Kuppam. BCT team members Mr Ganesh, Mr Chinnababu and Mr. Naveen participated for the three-day Igniters Training Program, which was held from May 8 to May 10. It was an interesting session, and the team members benefitted greatly from it.
Students raise awareness
Under the ‘grama prerana’ initiative, students of BCT Residential High School motivated villagers to save water. In this regard they visited various villages and showcased skits highlighting the need and ways to save water. Besides this, students showcased traditional folk arts of kolatam, chitikelu, bhajan and dappu. The program was organized under the guidance of village elders.
Sewage treatment plant project
On April 19, the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Water Purification Project for two of the school’s hostel buildings was formally inaugurated by BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram Murty, in the presence of the Central Coordinator, Principal, and the ITI team. This vital infrastructure was generously supported by SNF Visakhapatnam India Pvt.
