A new year has begun, bringing with it many opportunities and promises. As we at BCT Residential High School step into the second month of 2025, we take the time to offer gratitude to all those who have been a part of our journey. With many milestones and achievements, both big and small, we bring you a summary of what the past few months held for us.

Sankranthi celebrations

The harvest festival of Sankranthi is an important time for Andhra Pradesh. At BCT Residential High School too, celebrations took place, both on campus and at village-level. Students conducted animation programs in the villages from 3rd to 8th January. During this time, BCTs Community Organizers and school teachers also participated in the program, which focused on the theme of saving water.

Students were given Sankranthi vacations so that they could celebrate this important festival with their families. However, before they left for their homes, they celebrated Bhogi with their school-mates and teachers on the campus. A huge bhogi bonfire was created, with beautiful muggulu surrounding it. Students and staff danced around the Bhogi fire and sang traditional songs.

Academic Focus

Academics continued to be in focus for all classes from sixth to tenth. As the tenth graders of BCT Residential High School ready themselves for their upcoming board exams, BCT provided the extra fillip to their preparations. All-in-one study materials were issued by Sri Sitaramaraju, BCT Central Coordinator, and school staff. This will enable the students to prepare better for their board exams.

Extracurricular Achievements

The extremely talented students of BCT school also won accolades and recognition in extracurricular activities. On December 28 and 29, students participated in the Kriya children festival at Kakinada. Here they got the third place in the events of Burrakatha, Kolatam and mime show. Students from the Sri PV Venkatesan Center for the Challenged also secured the third place in the mime show.

Health and safety

The health and safety of our students is paramount to us. On 18th September, a health checkup was conducted for the students. These regular visits ensure that the growth parameters of schoolchildren are on the right track. Besides regular health checks that assess the well-being of our students and ensure that their growth is on the right track, programs regarding their safety are regularly conducted as well. On 30th December, a team from the Woman Safety Wing, Anakapalli District Police, visited the BCT Residential High school. They met the students and held discussions on the topics of child marriages, growing rate of cyber-crimes, and POCSO Act. They also spoke about various other aspects of protecting the society.

Dignitaries as visitors

In the past few months, our school students benefitted from the visit of distinguished dignitaries. On August 19, renowned TV anchor and actress Mrs. Suma Kanakala visited the BCT campus & interacted with students, staff and rural women entrepreneurs. Also, in September, Mr. Nitin Desai, Head of Agastya International Foundation visited the BCT school. This was a recce visit to forge a partnership between BCT and Agasta Foundation towards STEM education. As the first step, an Innvoation Hub is being established at BCT High School, work for which is now in progress. This will later be converted into a hub and spoke model for at least 1000 school children in the region to be trained here. During his visit, he interacted with the team, school staff and students. The children also showcased various folkart programs. Along with dignitaries, youth from BCT TMF SMART centers and colleges also visited the school and the Sri PV Venkatesan Center for the Challenged.

Children’s Day celebrations

Celebrated on November 14, Children’s Day this year was even more special for the students of the BCT Residential High School. A large credit for the bright smiles of the students goes to Feeding India, which has been providing students and staff with four healthy meals every day since September. On the occasion of Children’s Day, they gave amazing gifts that made the occasion extra special. From goodie bags to exciting sports kits including badminton, frisbees, footballs, and cricket gear, children are cherishing every moment playing and enjoying these wonderful gifts.

Constitution day

On 23rd November, students of BCT Residential High School celebrated India's Constitution Day. On this occasion, BCT organized Constitution Day activities across 11 locations, including 8 high schools and 3 SMART Centers, impacting 2,163 people. This initiative highlights the significance of the Constitution and encourages individuals to incorporate its values and principles into their daily lives

Other Celebrations

Besides the above highlights, various other celebrations were also held at the BCT Residential High School. On 5th September, the school celebrated Teachers Day, under the leadership of the 10th graders. The 10th class students conducted games for their teachers, and even awarded prizes to the winners. It was a fun-filled event, that brought joy to both the teachers and students. On 26th January, students came together to mark Republic Day. The tricolor was unfurled by BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram Murty along with the youngest students of the school. This was followed by a scintillating cultural performance by the students of the school.

With all these activities making up our past few months, we look forward to sharing with you many more developments in the days to come. We thank you for your continued support and wish you a wonderful new year as well.
