Hello,

As the earth completed one more circle around the sun, it’s been a packed schedule at the BCT Residential High School. There was aplenty that happened in the past few months and here’s a gist of all that the school children learned, experienced and cherished.

We learned about the Indian constitution!

The Indian constitution is all set on the threshold of its 75th year. However, not many people are aware about the wealth of information in this document. In order to be an agent of change, BCT partnered with NGOs across India to promote the message of ‘Har dil mein samvidhan’ (Indian constitution in every heart). Building awareness about Indian constitution, BCT conducted various sessions, rallies and activities to enable a better understanding about India’s constitution. This grassroot campaign saw wholehearted participation at various levels including the BCT Residential High School.

On November 26, students celebrated ‘Indian Constitution Day’ with a rally highlighting the importance of constitution. From January 8 to January 10, students from BCT Residential High School went to six villages and spoke about the process of voting and the Indian constitution. Also, on Republic Day, students took an oath to live by the constitution’s words and spread the message further. On January 26, BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram Murty unfurled the tricolor and a colorful cultural program was showcased by the talented school students.

Our School got a New Principal

On December 22, 2023,Mr. Murali Mohan Rao Naidu took charge as the new Principal of BCT Residential High school. Having associated with BCT for over a decade, he had left to work as a government teacher. He now joined back with the school in this new role. He has brought in discipline, new ideas, enthusiasm and renewed our energies at school.

There was a school picnic!

School students thoroughly enjoyed at the school picnic held on 11th November, BCTs Foundation Day. Spiced up with various fun games, the special highlight was a magic show, where a magician enthralled the young minds with plenty of fun events and amazing shows. All the students from grades 6th to 10th of the BCT Residential High School and specially-abled children from the Sri PV Venkatesan Centre for the Challenged joined in wholeheartedly.

Sankranti celebrations were held

Ringing in a time of colorful festivities, celebrations for Sankranti became bigger and brighter this year. At the BCT Residential High school, students under ‘Grama prerana’ received training on folk dances which they performed at villages from January 6th. A day prior to their Sankranti vacations on January 11, the students had a grand celebration at school. A huge Bhogi bonfire was set up in the ground, with colourful muggu (rangoli) with gobbemallu surrounding it. The fire was lit by BCT Secretary Sri B Sri Ram Murty. Students, teachers and staff danced around the Bhogi fire singing traditional songs. A rangoli competition was also held, where both students and teachers participated.

On January 12, as students started to leave for Sankranti vacations, a meeting was held with the parents and teachers. The BCT team addressed the parents and highlighted about the achievements of students, progress and new developments at school. Parents clarified their doubts by talking to the teachers.

People came visiting

Visitors to the BCT Residential School are a blessing and they bring with them their wealth of knowledge, gifts and experiences to share. From college students to heads of organizations, there’s always something to learn from everyone who visits. In the past few months, we had the august company of Vanguri Foundation Head Sri C. Raju Vanguri. He enquired about the education system being followed at school, and was very impressed by the skill training being taken up in the school.

Our student visitors included students from Kites college who visited the high school and donated dustbins on December 30. Students also came from Bullayya college and interacted with the students at school. They also visited the Sri PV Venkatesan Center for the Challenged and saw the various activities being taken up there. A new speechtherapy table was also gifted to the Sri PV Venkatesan center, and the students are now able to comfortably sit and have their sessions.
