Our creative young minds have been busy through the past couple of months, and here are a few updates from our end.
January 2023 brought with it, the colourful harvest festival of Sankranthi and celebrations at the campus were held in a grand scale. While the actual festival is a holiday for students, the week prior to Sankranthi brought the colors to campus early. A huge bhogi fire was lit and children, staff and other members of the BCT family joined in gaiety as they danced around it. Both boys and girls participated in the muggulu (rangoli) competition as part of the celebrations. Children dressed in traditional attire, and added beauty and meaning to the celebrations.
Soon after their holidays were over, children trickled back to school and classes began. They also celebrated the 74th Republic Day with speeches, games and cultural programs. Along with academics and the regularly held exams, various classes on soft skills were conducted for the children too. Designed through moral stories, students improved their verbal English skills. Classes were also held on tackling stress related to studies.
Various visitors impressed by the unique education model of the school came to visit too. They included Sri Sravan Kumar, General Manager Saint Gobain, who was impressed by the unique charkha spinning initiative. Also, student groups from Rubaroo, Hyderabad, IRMA Anand and BCT TMF SMART centers in Visakhapatnam came and interacted with the children.
Students from BCTs Sri PV Venkatesan Center for the Challenged got busy with classes in speech therapy. They received hearing aids from kind beneficiaries of Coastal Area Bank in December and have been making good use of them. Along with academics, they polished their tailoring training and other skills.
It was a busy time, as amidst all the activities, students of grade 10 also got the DCEB Board study material in March. Issued to the students by Central Coordinator Sri Sitaramaraju, this will enable better preparation for the 10th class students. As they prepare to appear for the first public examination, preparatory exams were also held for the students.
