The story of Iqra is one of hope and perseverance. Iqra hailed from a particularly poverty stricken slum from Pakistan, and her parents worked hard to ensure that she could go to school. In year seven, she transferred to a TCF school, which had recently opened up near her home, which relieved her parents from the financial struggle they were going through at her old school. Iqra excelled at school, graduating top of her class, despite helping out her parents with jobs to help out financially. She gained admission to one of Karachi's leading universities to study Mathematics and Statistics, securing a First Class Honours. Before going on to pursue an MBA, she decided to come back to TCF to teach English, and give back to the institution that she felt she owed her success to. During her MBA, Iqra interned at the State Bank of Pakistan, and was motivated to study for the Pakistan Central Superior Services (CSS) Examination, one of the country's toughest exams to take, which would enable her to work in Government services.
Iqra managed to graduate top of her MBA class, publish a research paper and stood 17th out of 13,000 student applicants from the CSS exams. Iqra now works in the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Services as an Assistant Accountant General, and credits her success to the TCF teachers and principal who encouraged her to follow her dreams, and the management team and volunteers at TCF who supporter her. Iqra dreams of bringing about bringing about positive change to Pakistan, and making a difference in the lives of others, in the way that she feels TCF made a difference in hers.
Your support will enable thousands just like Iqra to fulfil their potential, and carry TCF's mission forward.
