PASADIT is working in hand with the Tanga City Authority to improve learning environment in Tanga Cityl. Education being fundamental in bringing change and development amongst the community, Tanzania has been experiencing down fall in education sector. Teaching environment which is not conducive and friendly has continued to contribute to this downfall. Currently the City Council is operating 79 Primary Schools with 47,652 pupils.The project will support Mapambano primary school in Tanga City.
Every child has the right to an education, however most schools the learning environment does not motivate a pupil to go to school, schools do not have enough desks finding pupils sitting on the floor or more than three pupils sitting on one desk crowding making follow up of lessons and writing to become a difficult thing for them, on the other hand, A text book is shared with three pupils (ratio of pupil to textbook is 1 book for 3 pupils)
Purchasing and distribution of desks and textbooks to Mapambano Primary school will reduce the problem of desks as pupils will sit comfortably, learn and follow up classes. therefore acquire the knowledge intended, however pupils will also perform exercise and more important, availability of desks and text books will improve attendance rate where pupils were not willing to sit on the floor
Supporting the education sector in Tanga City by providing school desks and text books will reduce the sitting ratio of pupil to desk and textbook as pupils will sit and perform exercises as given by school teachers, but also will motivate school teachers to work diligently, furthermore dropout rate will be reduced and therefore the school performance will ultimately improve.
