Regular, nutritious food is a basic right of any child, and vital for their development. Unfortunately, many children arrive for care at the Children's Home in a state of malnourishment. The Victory Child Care Project - Ty Cariad Children's Home is a childcare institution approved by the Ugandan Government, with a remit to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Reintegrate the children. It currently looks after 40+ children at the Home, and their needs include love, security, food & nutrition, and education.
After children have been rescued and placed for care at the Children's Home, the process of rehabilitation, tracing and pre-reintegration takes place. The length of time that a child is at the Home varies dramatically between days and months, but for each child, the basic needs are the same - love, security, food and nutrition, and education. There are usually 40 children plus staff at the Home, and the cost of feeding each child is approximately $2.1 per day.
With your help, we can feed the children healthy and nutritious meals three times a day. A good diet is foundational to all the other services we provide - love, security, healthcare and education. A hungry child does not feel loved or secure; will not be able to maintain a good level of health; and will not be best placed to receive an education.
During the process of rehabilitation prior to reintegration back into a family, it is imperative that each child receives love, security, food & nutrition, and education. Amongst other things, this helps each child to develop a sense of self-worth and a realisation that they will have opportunities to break the cycle of disadvantage and poverty. By donating to this project, you are helping provide these children with the support and encouragement they need, making a difference in their lives.
