This project will provide life-saving heart surgeries for 250 children in Ghana suffering from congenital and acquired heart conditions. Many families cannot afford the high cost of cardiac treatment, leaving children to live with serious health complications that can become life-threatening. This project will help ensure children receive timely diagnosis, surgery, and post-operative care to improve survival and long-term health.
Childhood heart disease is a serious medical condition in Ghana, but access to specialized cardiac care is limited and expensive. Many children with heart defects do not receive treatment due to financial barriers, lack of nearby specialists, and delayed diagnosis. Without surgery, these conditions can lead to severe illness, disability, or death.
This project will support medical screening, heart surgery, hospitalization, medication, and follow-up care for 250 children. It will partner with hospitals and cardiac specialists to ensure safe and effective treatment. Early diagnosis and referral systems will also be strengthened to identify children in need of urgent care.
The project will save lives, improve children's health outcomes, and reduce long-term disability caused by untreated heart conditions. Families will experience reduced financial burden, and children will have the opportunity to grow, attend school, and live healthier lives. Over time, this project will strengthen pediatric cardiac care in Ghana.
