Two New Chownra (Hut) Schools Inaugurated in Sindh

By Muhammad Imad Ud Din | Project Leader

Title: Two New Chownra (Hut) Schools Inaugurated in Tharparkar, Expanding Access to Education

Summary

Alkhidmat Foundation has successfully inaugurated two new Chownra (Hut) Schools in Tharparkar, Sindh, providing accelerated learning opportunities for 50 deserving children in underserved desert communities.

With this expansion, Alkhidmat now operates 23 Chownra Schools across the Thar Desert, delivering education to approximately 950 children and helping bridge the education gap in remote areas.

Story / Update

Tharparkar remains one of the most underprivileged regions in Pakistan, where access to formal education is limited due to poverty, distance, and lack of school infrastructure. Many children are unable to attend regular schools, leaving them at risk of remaining out of the education system.

To address this critical challenge, Alkhidmat Foundation inaugurated two new Chownra (Hut) Schools, designed to provide accelerated learning programs for out-of-school children. These schools offer basic education in a safe and accessible environment, helping students reintegrate into formal education pathways.

The Chownra Schools are specially designed for remote desert areas, ensuring that children who previously had no access to learning can now receive education close to their homes. Teachers provide structured lessons focused on literacy, numeracy, and foundational skills essential for future academic success.

With these new additions, Alkhidmat is now operating 23 Chownra Schools serving around 950 children across Tharparkar, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving education in marginalized communities.
