THE METAMORPHOSIS OF COURAGE
During these months we continued to support patients and their families comprehensively. Some of our activities were the following:
Our caregivers participated in a Therapeutic dance workshop. The objective was to connect the body and mind and create a sense of unity with all the participants.
We had a fun outing with a group of patients to a nearby farm called Capriola where the children spent a delightful afternoon outdoors, riding horses and planting vegetables.
We celebrated life by accompanying patients on birthdays, bringing them a cake, presents, toys and many fun and loving activities.
On August 24th, the Sanar Foundation commemorated Child Cancer Survivor Day, in homage to its founder, Dr. Fabio Restrepo Ángel (18th Meeting). Dr. Fabio Restrepo Ángel dedicated his life to studying the subject of child cancer. This year, the main topic was the importance of palliative care. The symbol that we chose for this event was a butterfly because we love the way it assumes its transformation, turning from a caterpillar to a beautiful creature with wings
The motto of this meeting was¨ From Caterpillar to Butterfly, The Metamorphosis of Courage ¨. Each child was given a caterpillar to take home and take care of it until it transformed into a butterfly.
Once the butterfly could fly, it would carry on its wings the wish of each child to be healthy again.
We also made many home visits to identify the needs of the patients and their families and support them in the best possible way.
