This project will provide for schools' needs, as an emergency response supporting 100 orphaned children between the ages of 5 - 15years in Bamenda who have lost one or both parents within the Anglophone crisis ongoing in the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon.
Reports from Human Rights Watch and other observers indicate that at least 5,000 civilians have been killed by armed groups since late 2016. Each death potentially creates orphans who now live with trauma and are not able to continue with their education due to the limited or absence of sponsorship. Although UNICEF is working hard to support access to learning for out-of-school children through Radio education programs, these orphans are unable to benefit due to a lack of learning materials.
RADA will provide these children with essential learning materials, comprising workbooks, textbooks, chalk/boards, pens, pencils, notebooks, building blocks, readers, and storybooks to help them acquire the basic skills of reading and writing. Additionally, they will have access to solar-powered radios, which will provide access to Radio education programs. Caregivers are taught how to use the solar-powered radios, and they can also teach their neighbors. One-on-one professional counseling.
This project will support 100 children acquire the basic skills of reading and writing, for which these skills can be passed down to younger ones as well as the learning materials, reducing illiteracy rate, easing the burden on caregivers and complete healing for the children who has lost one or both parents within the Anglophone crisis.
