Super Typhoon Rai, locally named Odette, left a devastating toll in southeastern Philippines when it struck, killing hundreds of people and leaving more than 300,000 displaced. This relief fund will support emergency aid like food, water, medicine, and shelter. After initial needs are met, the fund will transition to provide long-term assistance as needed. All donations to this fund will exclusively support Typhoon Rai (Odette) recovery efforts.
Thousands of people in the Philippines are now homeless, as the Category 5 tropical storm battered multiple provinces. Local officials and emergency responders in the Philippines are doing their best to operate temporary shelters amid the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
All donations to this fund will support recovery and relief efforts for Typhoon Rai (locally known as Odette). Initially, funds will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. The fund will later transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run primarily by local, vetted organizations in the communities affected.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
