Global Peace Foundation Philippines in collaboration with TaskUs Philippines and GlobalGiving donated school supplies kit consisting of notebooks, pencils, coloring materials, and bags to 100 students of San Mateo Elementary School in Siargao, Surigao del Norte, Philippines last May 21, 2022.
A few weeks after the May 2022 elections, the Department of Education secretary announced that the official start of school year 2022-2023 will start by August 2022 and that face-to-face classes must be conducted by November 2022. For the past two years, the country has been conducting classes online and/or modular because of the CoVid-19 health restrictions. Aside from the pandemic situation, Super Typhoon Odette left the islands of Siargao devastated—making it more difficult for the residents.
The project aims to help ease the students in the upcoming opening of the school year 2022-2023. The organizations understand that the pupils, as well as their parents, would have to adjust to the new learning modality for this year coupled by the fact that they were still recovering from the aftermath of Typhoon Odette. With the help of the school supplies kit, the organizations hope to inspire these students to pursue their studies and achieve their dreams.
