This project will help low income girls, boys and young people with cancer in Mexico , by providing them with special studies, medicines, prostheses and endoprotheses.
In Mexico, child cancer is the leading cause of disease-related death among the little ones. Each year, there are around 5,000 new cases and there is less than 50% of survival rate. Sadly, this translates into one death every four hours. On top of that, Covid-19 has struck a double blow. On one hand, it has made resources scarcer than ever before and, on the other hand, it has put users at even greater risk since they have a condition of immunosuppression.
This project aims to strengthen two of the four guidelines: proper treatment and treatment fidelity. The former, focuses on providing special studies, which allow health professionals to confirm diagnoses, define treatments and measure progresses. The latter focuses on providing medicines, protheses and endoprotheses, which allow to attack pathogenic cells, reduce side-and-after effects and enhance immune systems.
At the end, it will increase the survival rate of the +4,800 users in present remission and +1,200 users in active treatment. 'Where you live in the world, should not determine whether you live in the world.' -Bono
