Supporting Families Through Local Schools

By Jen Dao & Marcus Fey | Strategic Development Coordinator and CFO

Home of the Swallow staff and volunteers continued their partnership with Wat Sankayom School, where they were warmly received by school leadership. During this period, the school director addressed challenges involving a volunteer from another organization whose inconsistent follow-through created added strain for staff. In contrast, the director expressed appreciation for the reliability, teamwork, and professionalism consistently demonstrated by our volunteers. He also participated in an informal evaluation of our team’s work and noted their strong communication, collaborative approach, and clear focus on student engagement.

In addition to supporting the school, the team visited the family of Joe (fake name), a child with special needs, to provide staple food items and follow up on his development. Previous medical assistance has improved his participation in class, and he is now able to communicate through sign language when focused. These visits reflect the foundation’s broader goal of strengthening families and ensuring children with additional needs receive consistent support at home and in school.

Through consistent presence, professional conduct, and family-centered engagement, the foundation continues to strengthen collaboration with Wat Sankayom School and the surrounding community. School leaders report improved communication among staff, increased motivation, and a growing openness to partnership. By combining educational support, family outreach, and strong local relationships, this work contributes to healthier family systems and a more supportive learning environment for vulnerable children.
