Home of the Swallow continues building strong relationships with children and teachers in a local school community. Recently, the team has been aware of several children facing very difficult family situations. In one case, a child needed temporary care because of safety concerns at home. In another, a special-needs student who had made wonderful progress in a stable foster home has struggled after returning to his biological family. These situations are complicated, and there is not always an easy answer, but Home of the Swallow continues to be a trusted and caring presence for children and families who need support.
There have also been many encouraging moments. The team recently began a small learning group with five children who are excited to participate and ask questions. During the school’s Chinese New Year celebration, Home of the Swallow treated all the children to ice cream, and the teachers expressed how thankful they are for the ongoing relationship. One teacher shared that staff from other schools often say they wish their school had the same kind of support. Through FCF, projects like Home of the Swallow are able to continue serving children, encouraging families, and building relationships in their communities.
