Hurricanes Helene and Milton reminded us of the importance of access to basic services and shelter during hurricanes. Thousands were left without power, homes were destroyed, and roads were washed out. None are more vulnerable to the harm of natural disasters than marginalized community members who cannot access government backed disaster resources because of their immigration status.
Thanks to donors like you we were able to secure $1074 to start a pool of funds for these potentially life saving hurricane preparedness kits! We unfortunately fell short of raising the money needed to purchase and distribute 100 of these kits. Therefore we modified the timeline of the project to begin at the start of the following hurricane season (May 2025). This will allow us to raise the rest of the funds necessary to meet the project goal.
Thank you again for your belief and support in this work!
