It has been a busy fundraising summer for us. As we mentioned in the last update, we've had two trustees complete the ITERA 2014 expedition adventure race - 600km from Caernarfon to Cardiff non-stop over 5 days... that was tough! We've had quite a lot of supporters doing sponsored swims for us, and raising lots of money - all helping towards funding this project in Sudan.
Our major foundation funder is fully on-board, contracts signed, and the first part of the money has been transfered.
We were lucky enough to have one of the guys from the Sudanese Sea Scouts (our local partner organistion) on a training programme in Tanzania that we were also a part of - so we took the opportunity to sit down and really get into some of the fine detail of the planning.
Some great news - we now think that we can actually train more people with less money!! Slight change to how we run things, and we think we've got the extra capacity.
Over the winter we've got some organisational work to do - funders want to see things like our Ethics Policy, and things like that. We are also working to develop a new website, and are a little bit excited to see what the WHO Drowning Report is going to contain when it's published in November.
The Sudanese Sea Scouts are starting to work on identifying appropriate participants for the programme - and getting some of the logistic elements planned on (training locations, accommodation, etc).
Everything is starting to look really good for March.
Thank you for your support & your interest in our work.
