Sexual harassment and abuse in schools in Northern Ghana is a serious problem for students. This project will create awareness in 30 schools on ways of preventing and abolishing this crime.
Many teen age pregnancy and drop out from schools among girls is due to sexual harassment and abuse. Our project will help victims to report and speak out and create awareness on the ills of this crime. It will enable us form peer groups among students, educate students and teachers on sex education, ways of preventing and abolishing sexual harassment in schools so that this should not interferes with school work or students’ ability to participate in extracurricular activities or classes.
Some targeted 30 educational establishments in the Northern Region of Ghana will receive free counseling and training on sex education and strategies to identify, prevent and overcome cases of sexual harassment and abuse among students and teachers.
Educational establishments will be conducive and friendly for learning thereby preventing teen age pregnancy and request for sexual favor or unwelcome sexual behaviors which make students feel uncomfortable, scared and confused
