In February 2015, our volunteers walked for 13 days to reach over 20 villages. They ran 15 awareness campaigns regarding abroad employment and human trafficking. They reached over 300 people in total.
On the road, they encountered many issues. For instance, our volunteers met a young woman who was trafficked to Saudi Arabia and worked there under harsh conditions for a number of years. Once she became pregnant, she was kicked out by her supervisor and sent back to Nepal. She is currently pregnant and living with her parents.
Further, our volunteers met 15 young 16 year-old girls. Our volunteers stopped them and checked their passports. This revealed that their passports contained forgery, stating that the girls were 22 years-old. The girls had no knowledge of this blatant forgery. The purpose of making the teenage girls older was so that they would be employable. It is believed that those girls were heading to the Middle East to be put to work.
