Stop Ebola at Uganda's Borders

We are deeply grateful to GlobalGiving and every donor who has stood with us through the Stop Ebola at Uganda's Borders project.

GlobalGiving has generously supported this project twice through flexible grants totaling US$8,500. This support has been extremely important in strengthening our emergency response and preparedness efforts at a critical time. With US$ 78,000 target more support is needed from you.

We are proud to report an important achievement: Uganda has successfully contained the Ebola threat, thanks to the tremendous efforts of health workers, government authorities, communities, and partners working together. Our preparedness and response efforts along the border have contributed to protecting communities and strengthening awareness, surveillance, and prevention.

However, our work is far from over.

Across the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the number of infections continues to surge, creating a major humanitarian and public health challenge. Ugandan health workers are working alongside response efforts connected to the DRC emergency to help contain the disease and prevent further spread.

While the situation in Uganda has been successfully contained, the rising number of cases in the DRC remains a serious threat to the entire region. We have not yet been able to directly enter the affected areas of the DRC to support the increasing number of cases, largely because the response requires more resources, supplies, coordination, and operational support.

Many frontline health workers urgently need support.

We are therefore continuing to appeal for your generosity to help us purchase more urgently needed medical and protective items, hygiene supplies, and other essential materials required by frontline responders and vulnerable communities.

Every contribution can help protect a health worker. Every supply can strengthen preparedness. Every donation can help prevent another community from becoming affected.

Uganda's success in containing Ebola shows that prevention and rapid response work. Now, we must not stop while communities across the border continue facing a growing crisis.

We still have a major target to achieve, and with your continued support, World Action Fund can do more to stand with frontline health workers and communities at risk.
