Stop Cholera Deaths in Six DRC Provinces Now

By PASCAL | Cordinator

The fight against cholera in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a race to save lives. In six provinces Haut-Katanga, Tanganyika, South Kivu, North Kivu, Tshopo, and Kongo Central many vulnerable families continue to face the dangers of unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, and limited access to medical care. With more than 18,000 cholera cases reported in 2025, the need for urgent and sustained action remains clear, particularly for children and families living in the most affected communities.

With a total project budget of $95,000, our initiative aims to improve access to safe drinking water, distribute hygiene kits, support rapid cholera response, and educate communities on disease prevention. So far, we have raised $221 through the generosity of our early supporters. The project is currently in its preparation and resource-mobilization phase. We are identifying qualified trainers and prospective learners to help ensure that planned activities respond to community needs and reach the people who need them most. Field implementation will begin once the necessary resources and preparations are in place. Although the funds raised so far represent only an initial step toward our goal, every contribution brings us closer to protecting vulnerable families.

Looking ahead, we aim to strengthen community knowledge of cholera prevention, promote safer water practices, and support local health workers in responding to outbreaks. Over the longer term, the project seeks to contribute to a substantial reduction in cholera-related deaths, with a target of reducing fatalities by 80%, subject to adequate funding and effective implementation. We are deeply grateful to our donors for believing in this mission and extend our sincere appreciation to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects community-led initiatives with generous supporters around the world. Through this collaboration, we hope to expand our reach, mobilize the resources needed, and turn this vision into meaningful action.

We invite more donors, partners, and compassionate supporters to join us in this life-saving effort. Your donation, whatever its size, can help bring safe water, hygiene supplies, prevention education, and emergency support closer to families at risk. Together, we can help prevent avoidable deaths and build healthier, more resilient communities across the six provinces. Thank you for standing with us. With your continued support and the partnership of GlobalGiving, we can move closer to our $95,000 goal and make a lasting difference in the fight against cholera in the DRC.
