Project Update for STITCHING FUTURE: EMPOWERING 150 VULNERABLE WOMEN

Project Overview:
The STITCHING FUTURE project aims to empower 150 vulnerable women by equipping them with practical stitching skills, fostering economic independence, and creating a support network within the  surrounding  communities.

Current Progress:

1. Skill Development Workshops

   • We have completed training for the first set of 35 Single mothers,youths and persons with passion to learn a skill in Dress making. The women(Participants)  have learned foundational and advanced stitching techniques. Participants report increased confidence and are now producing market-ready items.

2. Economic Empowerment

   • A significant number of women have begun to take on paid stitching work, with some even collaborating to fulfill larger orders. We’re working on connecting them with local markets, improving their computer skills and exploring online sales channels.

3. Community and Support Network

   • The program has not only imparted skills but has also fostered a support network among participants. Women now actively support one another, sharing ideas, resources, and encouragement, building a strong community with the local chiefs for effective sensitization.

4. Challenges and Learnings

   •  securing funding is a big challenge. The funds arent sufficient to meet up with the training material, secure or pay the salaries of trainers.
   • We would be happy to have professional volunteer trainers in dress-making  from Abroad who can help us to train the vulnerable 
   • securing consistent material supplies has been challenging, but we’re working on partnerships with local suppliers to overcome this.

Next Steps:
In the coming months, we aim to:

• Scale the project by introducing additional training sessions.
• Focus on product quality improvement to attract higher-paying buyers.
• Strengthen the women’s digital literacy so they can manage online orders independently.
• Recruite new badge of beneficiaries
• Recruit professional trainers 
• Improve on communication and partnership development with local authorities 
• Partnership with organisation or individuals who have a service to offer.

This progress not only reflects the hard work of each participant but also highlights the positive trajectory toward sustainable, self-driven economic empowerment.
