Challenge

Limbe and Bamenda are regions of the SW and NW regions of Cameroon, respectively, with more than 1500 vulnerable adolescent girls, teen mothers, female school dropouts, destitute women (IDPs), orphans, victims of gender-based violence (GBV), victims of the ongoing Anglophone conflict, and street children living in Bamenda and Limbe. These individuals face significant barriers to education, employment, and economic independence. Imagine a community of 1500 vulnerable people without shelter.

Solution

OR training centers offer free skills in dress-making, ICT, entertainment, and tailoring. The trainees obtain a nationally recognized certificate for dressmaking, assuring a sustainable future. Thanks to their new training and acquired skills. The beneficiaries are equipped with job-seeking skills and financial literacy, supporting them in their journey to adulthood, increasing their confidence when entering the workforce, and helping them make knowledgeable financial and money-saving decisions.

Long-Term Impact

1. Proficient dressmaking skills and technical expertise among participants. 2. Increased self-reliance and income generation through entrepreneurial ventures or employment in the fashion industry. 3. Enhanced creativity, self-expression, and self-esteem among participants. 4. Contribution to local economic development through the production and sale of quality garments. 5. Empowerment of vulnerable women and girls, leading to improved socio-economic status and community engagement.
