Summary

Since starting with 12 women, EACD has trained 450+ women in rural Faisalabad in professional sewing and tailoring - women who now earn income, support families, and gain lasting dignity. Nine sewing machines from a previous GlobalGiving project are now in Village 2, continuing that impact. But the new Career Learning Center, opening in six months, has no machines yet. GlobalGiving donors are needed to equip it so the next generation of women can train, serving both Christian and Muslim families

Challenge

Women in low-income rural Pakistan face profound barriers to economic participation. Cultural norms, limited education, and scarce skills training leave many financially dependent. Near Faisalabad, the irony is striking: Pakistan is a major textile producer, yet local women lack training and tools to participate in it. Many can't afford even a basic sewing machine, locking out talented women from sustainable livelihoods - and when a woman can't earn, poverty becomes generational.

Solution

GlobalGiving funds will equip our new sewing center with industrial machines, repair kits, fabric, and materials. Courses cover tailoring, embroidery, and small business skills - women learn to earn, not just sew. Flexible schedules accommodate household duties. Graduates receive vocational certificates. We serve both Christians and Muslims. Pakistan's constitution guarantees religious freedom - we are living it out.

Long-Term Impact

In the first year, this center will train 20+ women in professional sewing and tailoring. We expect at least 60% of graduates to generate income within six months, through employment or self-employment.Women who earn independently report higher confidence, better family nutrition, and greater decision-making power at home. Each trained woman also becomes a potential trainer herself, multiplying impact across the community, building on the 40+ women already transformed since we began with just 12
