This report outlines the key components and expected impact of a project dedicated to providing comprehensive psycho-educational and nutritional support to children and their caregivers in Argentina.
According to recent data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC), poverty in Argentina has reached concerning levels, with a significant impact on children. The project highlights the urgent need to address this crisis, as child poverty can lead to irreversible damage at cognitive, behavioral, and socio-emotional levels, severely limiting a child's future potential. By providing early intervention, we aim to counteract the long-term effects of poverty and malnutrition, which pose a major barrier to a healthy life and successful education.
Our project addresses the root causes of extreme poverty through a multi-faceted approach. A multidisciplinary team of professionals, including pediatricians, nutritionists, social workers, and early childhood specialists, works to provide a holistic solution. The program focuses on two main beneficiaries: the child and the responsible adult (mother or caregiver).
- For the child: We provide direct psycho-educational stimulation at our health center to support healthy development.
- For the adult: We offer comprehensive training and support to empower them to continue the child's stimulation at home. This includes providing necessary materials and weekly monitoring sessions with our professionals to define new work guidelines. The adult also receives weekly nutrition workshops and essential food supplies for the child, along with social support from our team of social workers.
The training for adults is comprehensive, covering:
The project's long-term goal is to achieve sustainable change by focusing on the empowerment and education of the adult. Research shows that a child’s potential is maximized when they are well-nourished, cared for responsibly, given early learning opportunities, and protected from stress and violence. By strengthening the caregiver, we are creating a stable, nurturing environment that ensures the child's continued healthy development long after they leave our program. This approach aims to break the cycle of poverty by providing a foundation of nutrition, stimulation, and a healthy bond that will positively shape the child's future.
What the Funds Achieved
The project has a total goal of $60,000 and has raised $480 ($60,000 - $59,520 remaining). While this amount is a small portion of the overall target, based on the project description, the money obtained so far has allowed for, or is contributing to:
In short, the $480 obtained so far is being invested in the various components of this comprehensive program, which aims to improve child development and support families in poverty in Argentina.
