Progress on the School Shoes for Children

By Lizo Tom | Director

At Luvuyo Centre for Early Childhood Development and Care, one of the most visible signs of poverty is the number of children who arrive at school without proper shoes. For many families in our community, purchasing school shoes is simply beyond their financial means. Parents are often forced to choose between buying food, paying for transport, or purchasing essential school items.

Many children wear shoes that are too small, damaged beyond repair, or open sandals that provide little protection during the cold winter months. Others attend school barefoot, exposing them to injuries, infections, and discomfort. These daily challenges affect not only their physical wellbeing but also their confidence and sense of belonging.

Without proper school shoes, children are more likely to feel embarrassed among their peers, avoid participating in school activities, and struggle to concentrate in class because of discomfort. Something as simple as a pair of well-fitting shoes can restore dignity, improve attendance, and help children focus on learning instead of worrying about sore feet.

Our Community Response

Luvuyo Centre remains committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Through the generosity of donors and supporters, we continue to identify children with the greatest need and provide essential items that help remove barriers to education.

While school shoes may seem like a small gift, they have a lasting impact. They allow children to attend school comfortably, participate confidently in classroom activities, and walk to and from school with dignity and protection.

Why Your Support Matters

Every contribution helps us ensure that vulnerable children are not left behind because of circumstances beyond their control. By investing in basic necessities such as school shoes, donors are investing in children's education, health, confidence, and future opportunities.

Together, we are giving children more than just shoes—we are giving them the confidence to take the next step toward a brighter future.

Thank you for standing alongside Luvuyo Centre for Early Childhood Development and Care and helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children we serve.
