On Monday July 24th the annual visual arts programme "Growing Young SVG Artists" will start. Thanks to you donors we continue to offer the programme. Your donations ensure it's continuation. We are always grateful for your generous donations!
"Growing Young SVG Artists"  will run for the next three weeks ending  August 11th.
This year's title is "From The Sea". We have designed exciting projects geared to be fun, active and interesting. The activities focus on all things from the sea with special emphasis on whales. Children will learn how to identify whales, what they do for the ecosystem and for humans and the dangers they encounter.
They will learn about Matisse and have the opportunity to make a cut out collage in his style. They will weave a magic mini carpet and then draw and paint a foreign country they would like to visit on their magic carpet.
Poems about the sea will be read. Songs about the sea will be sung.
Other activities are the making pop up seascape books, and doing fabric painting on "Sea Scarves".
During the Teachers Training Workshop, held July 17 to July 21st. in preparation for the programme, the teachers had a wonderful time doing the projects. They found them rich, fun and varied.
In my next report I will share the results of the 2017 "Growing Young SVG Artists" programme with you.
We hope you will continue to support this project, which is now in it's 17th year. The children love it!
