F SSIBU Mission Foundation – Uganda continues to strengthen its commitment to ending the HIV epidemic through a specialized community response team dedicated to HIV prevention, early intervention, and comprehensive support for people living with HIV.
The team works directly within communities to identify vulnerable individuals, provide accurate HIV education, encourage voluntary testing, and connect those who test positive to lifesaving treatment and care. By working closely with local health facilities, schools, community leaders, and families, the team helps ensure that no one is left behind because of stigma, fear, or lack of information.
A major focus of the initiative is supporting young people living with HIV. Many adolescents experience isolation, depression, and discrimination after learning their HIV status, leading some to abandon treatment or lose hope for the future. Through professional counseling, peer support groups, home visits, and continuous mentorship, the team helps young people regain confidence, remain committed to treatment, and build positive futures.
The team also organizes community awareness campaigns that promote HIV prevention, reduce stigma, and encourage communities to embrace and support people living with HIV with dignity and respect. These activities foster a more informed and compassionate community while increasing access to essential health services.
Despite the progress made, the need for expanded outreach remains significant. Additional support from donors and development partners will enable F SSIBU Mission Foundation – Uganda to train more community volunteers, reach underserved areas, strengthen counseling services, and provide continued follow-up for vulnerable individuals and families.
Through this community-led approach, the Foundation is contributing to healthier communities, reducing new HIV infections, improving treatment adherence, and ensuring that people living with HIV can live healthy, productive, and hopeful lives.
