Hello Everyone!
Hopefully the winter months are almost behind us and we are on track for better weather! We want to thank all our donors for their continued support through all of our growth!
It has been busy here at Fair Haven Rape Crisis Center! As you all know, January was Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. We have been working hard to combat human trafficking in our area. Just like last year, we had a T-shirt campaign to help with awareness in our area. We worked alongside Griffith Police’s social services department designing new and improved shirts!
With all of that said, we have great news! This year we had ALL of Lake County Police Department Badges on the back on our shirts! This is amazing because the biggest impact comes from when we, as a community, come together. We had a fantastic turnout and sold more individual orders than we did last year. One thing our shirts are going to do is start a conversation! That is where it all starts. These are the conversations that need to be had.
A question as simple as “Does that say Human Trafficking? Does that even happen around here?” opens so many doors to explain how it IS happening right here in our towns and signs people can look out for. After that it can lead to follow up questions such as, “What can I do to help?” Then, we can tell them all the ways that they can help, how much their donations mean to us, and simply how to help someone who might not even know that they need help yet.
We work hard everyday to make sure our survivors feel supported and HEARD. Please continue to support us in this fight.
