Falling Into a Routine

New Anti- Trafficking Advocate

My hope to have a fully staffed department has become a reality! I would like to introduce you all to the new Anti-Trafficking Advocate Nichole. She joined us in June, and we have been so happy to have her as part of the team. Nichole has been working diligently to ensure that she is educated on the multitude of complexities that are involved in serving survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking. I look forward to the many ways that we will continue to serve the clients together.

I too have been working hard at staying informed about what the current trends are in human trafficking, and what are the most trauma informed ways to serve the survivors. Recently I have attended many trainings and community events that have helped me to identify new ways to help and new partners in the community that are willing to help as well.

The most recent numbers state that we have served 21 identified survivors of trafficking and 58 clients who are at high risk of being trafficked. The numbers listed above include teenagers and adults from many different backgrounds. One of my most recent proud moments is when we were able to relocate a family of 7 to a safe place away from their abuser. Moments like those are not possible without the assistance of supporters like you. The survivors express their gratitude to us, and I would like to share that and express it to you. Thank you so much for the ways you have already helped us!

Lastly, I would like to share with you that we are currently in the process of planning a community event for the month of January. January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month; our goal is to host something that will bring more awareness to trafficking and that will give an accurate and informed picture of what human trafficking looks like in the counties we serve.

Thank you again for helping us accomplish our very important goals!
