Indigenous women and girls in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo face discrimination, violence, poverty, and exclusion. This project supports them with rights education, leadership training, peacebuilding, and resilience activities, helping women and girls speak up, participate in decisions, and build safer futures in their communities.
In eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indigenous women and girls often face discrimination, gender-based violence, poverty, insecurity, and exclusion from decisions that affect their lives. Many have little access to information about their rights or opportunities to lead. For a young Indigenous woman, finding the courage to speak can be difficult when her voice has been ignored for years. This project helps turn that silence into participation, safety, and hope.
Over the project period, Indigenous women and girls will receive practical rights education, leadership and confidence-building training, peacebuilding support, and opportunities to participate in community dialogue. Women will learn how to recognize and claim their rights, girls will strengthen their voices, and community leaders will be encouraged to include Indigenous women in decisions. Donations will directly support training sessions, learning materials, community dialogues, and local acti
The long-term goal is a community where Indigenous women and girls in eastern congo can participate safely and meaningfully in decisions affecting their families and communities. Stronger leadership can create a ripple effect: women who know their rights can support other women, girls can grow up seeing leadership as possible, and communities can build more peaceful and inclusive ways of resolving problems. Your donation helps create the foundation for lasting women's rights, resilience, peace.
