Thousands of children in deprived areas of Karachi are now playing cricket, Pakistan’s most popular sport, and benefitting from weekly physical activity sessions. This is as a result of the physical education and sport programme created by Youth Sport Trust International in November 2021with support from the Rangoonwala Foundation. We now need to reach thousands more and to do that Youth Sport Trust International needs to train more teachers to coach cricket and deliver high quality physical education lessons, creating a fun, learning environment for their students. That’s why our lead trainer is back in Karachi this June to train more teachers. This practical training is based on learning through doing and has proved popular with teachers.
‘When you move you are are being healthy and cricket is a healthy game. I want to learn new games and activities because we need to teach the children skills so that they can play and be happy.’
Feedback from a course participant.
Importantly she will also be providing follow on training for a group of teachers who took part in the pilot phases of the programme and were identified as having the necessary skills to progress to a more advanced level. They will be upskilled to become expert National Trainers who can then take the lead themselves in delivering training to more and more teachers and practitioners to ensure wider reach and sustainability of the programme thereby providing more opportunities for more children to play and compete in cricket.
Our ultimate aim is to take the programme across Pakistan and we are most grateful for your ongoing support. THANK YOU
