Enthusiasm continues to grow for the physical education and sport programme introduced by Youth Sport Trust International to schools in Karachi. What began as a pilot funded by the Rangoonwala Foundation for 13 schools has now reached 265 schools and there are aspirations for the programme to expand nationwide.
Teachers have welcomed the training they received which focused on four key themes:
Feedback after training was hugely positive with teachers reporting that their confidence had been boosted and they had developed new skills.
‘These games are having a positive impact on my PE lessons. I am much more confident because I have learnt new strategies and I know how I can involve my students and engage them.’
‘My students have learnt to play as a team’
Quotes from teachers when interviewed about the impact of the training
Shah Afzal, in-country Project Manager reflected:
‘It was a great experience to see teachers who had no sports background giving children responsibility of taking care of their equipment and allowing children to play small sports competitions on their own’
With your help we can continue to grow the programme and bring the life-changing benefits of play and sport to children in Pakistan. THANK YOU
