We are so excited to be preparing for our next reintegration! In just a few weeks’ time we will be reunited some of our children with their families and communities! Reintegration is such an exciting experience for everyone, but is an area of Challenging Heights’ work that is often not as celebrated as our rescues or rehabilitation program. However, it is no less critical than the others.
When children are reintegrated with their families, this is their opportunity to return to their support systems and begin building toward their futures. Once the children are returned to their communities they set the pace for their future, while be supported by our reintegration officers. The following two years after each child is reintegrated, they meet with our reintegration officers on a weekly basis- or more depending on the child’s success- to discuss their challenges and successes. The reintegration officers also meet with community leaders, teachers and parents to discuss the welfare of the child and their growth. These two years are critical for the long-term success of our children.
The cost of reintegration for one child for one year is $200. This provides the child’s caregiver a livelihood stipend to support the child, pays for the child’s school fees and medical coverage. We hope you will consider support this very critical piece in our children’s journey.
