FYF's Sugar is Sweet bakery & cafe are located outside a displacement camp in Iraq for tens of thousands of Yezidis: survivors of genocide perpetrated by ISIS. Many families come to enjoy cakes, cookies, and drinks. But some families cannot provide birthdays for their children. This project will fund a birthday party for a boy or girl and ten of his/her friends. Life in an IDP camp is challenging, and it is psychologically imperative that youth have some happy days in their childhood.
Many children in Iraq do not get their birthday party celebrated, especially those who live in displacement camps for many years.
Children will get a chance to celebrate their birthdays at the Sugar is Sweet bakery & Cafe and at the same time it keeps the bakery going which provides support for yezidi women, genocide survivors.
Many children in displaced settings have a lot of trauma. This birthday party can be one of their good memories, every child deserves at least a good day where they are celebrated.
