This project presents the opportunity to sponsor an IDP child, living in a garbage dump in Bamako, Mali. The program works in tandem with our project to "Help Relocate 500 Children out of a Garbage Dump" (Project # 24187). These children are living in poverty under the most deplorable conditions. They are lacking in food security, healthcare, hygiene, sanitation safety and education. Through this program you can sponsor a child and give them hope for their future.
The site on the garbage dump is called the Faladje IDP Camp. The ATEG team has an ongoing program to provide medical assistance to the Camp. Physicians from our Bamako Free Children's Clinic make regular visits to the Camp to treat the children and their families. During the outbreak of Covid we supplied the Camp with portable hand wash stations and masks. However, this site presents an unsafe living environment and the Mali government has tried, unsuccessfully, to relocate them.
Our project will resettle families from the camp to a new site which offers an opportunity for them to thrive. To make the site habitable, ATEG will dig boreholes and latrines, provide shelters and cultivate the land for farming. By participating in this program, you will be benefiting, not only the child you sponsor, but you will be funding the relocation of the entire community.
Your sponsorship will encourage these children, provide them with hope and the knowledge that people around the world care about them. Although these children are living under intolerable conditions, they all still have aspirations and dreams for their future like every child does. You can help fulfill that hope by sponsoring a child through this program. Our thank you letter will include a link to our website, with videos of the children and the option of choosing the child you wish to sponsor.
