GlobalGiving Project Update – October 2026

1. Introduction During October, Kasese Humanist School continued to make progress in supporting learners through the generous contributions of GlobalGiving donors. The funds received have helped improve access to education by supporting tuition, providing essential scholastic materials, strengthening staff support, and sustaining our school feeding program.

We are grateful to our GlobalGiving donors for their continued generosity and commitment to improving the lives of children in our communities.

Recurring donations, in particular, are making a meaningful difference in our ability to meet learners’ needs across the three campuses we manage.

2. Supporting 125 Beneficiaries with Tuition We are pleased to report that 125 learners are now benefiting from GlobalGiving funds through tuition support. This assistance is helping children continue their education and reducing the financial burden on families who might otherwise struggle to meet school fees. Your contributions are helping us keep education within reach for more children and strengthening our commitment to providing inclusive and accessible learning opportunities.

3. Providing Essential Scholastic Materials Recurring donations have also helped us improve the availability of essential scholastic materials and basic first-aid supplies for learners across our three campuses. During this reporting period, we distributed pens and pencils to students across the schools, ensuring that they have some of the basic tools needed for their daily classroom activities.

We also supplied mathematical sets to candidate-class learners at Kasese Municipal High School and Kasese Humanist Primary School, including learners at Rukoki, Muhokya, and Kahendero. These materials are particularly important for students preparing for their examinations, as they enable them to participate more effectively in mathematics lessons and complete examination exercises with the necessary equipment. These practical interventions help reduce the burden on parents and ensure that a lack of basic learning materials does not unnecessarily hinder children's academic progress.

4. Strengthening Staff Support The most recent funding allocation has helped strengthen staff salaries at our primary schools during the current school term. Of the UGX 2,000,000 recently received, UGX 450,000 was allocated to staff salary support at each of the primary schools, amounting to UGX 1,800,000 in total.

This contribution has helped the schools meet some of their staffing costs and support the continued delivery of learning activities. The remaining UGX 200,000 was used to purchase 60 mathematical sets and additional pencils for learners. We appreciate this support because teachers and other school staff play a vital role in ensuring that children receive consistent educational support. Assistance with staff costs helps us maintain school operations despite the financial pressures facing our institutions.

5. Challenges Facing the School-Feeding Program One of our biggest challenges continues to be the rising cost of food. Prices for essential food items, particularly cornmeal and beans, have increased, putting additional pressure on our school feeding program.

Providing meals remains an important part of supporting learners' well-being, concentration, and participation in class. However, as food prices continue to rise, the same resources purchase less food than before, making it increasingly difficult to sustain the program at the level we would like. We remain committed to doing everything possible to ensure that learners continue to receive food while exploring practical and sustainable ways to reduce our dependence on purchased supplies.

6. Strengthening Our Food Security Initiatives In response to the rising cost of food, we are intensifying our food security initiatives by increasing food production in our school gardens. This season, we are establishing additional garden spaces, with a particular focus on growing leafy greens and other vegetables that can supplement the food provided to learners. By producing more of our own food, we hope to reduce feeding costs, improve the nutritional quality of meals, and build greater resilience against future increases in food prices.

Our school gardening initiative is an important step toward long-term sustainability. In addition to helping meet immediate feeding needs, it offers opportunities to encourage learners to appreciate agriculture, environmental responsibility, and practical food production skills. We believe that investing in school gardens will help us make better use of available land and resources while strengthening the school's ability to provide meals consistently.

7. Looking Ahead In the coming months, Kasese Humanist School will continue to focus on the following priorities: • Sustaining tuition support for the 125 learners benefiting from GlobalGiving funds. • Ensuring that students have access to essential scholastic materials, including pens, pencils, books, and mathematical sets. • Supporting teachers and school staff to maintain effective learning environments. • Strengthening the school feeding program despite rising food prices. • Expanding school gardens to increase the availability of vegetables and other food supplies. • Promoting greater sustainability by growing more food locally and reducing reliance on purchased food. Continued donor support will be essential in helping us maintain these services and respond to the growing needs of our learners.

8. Appreciation to GlobalGiving Donors We extend our sincere appreciation to every GlobalGiving donor who continues to support Kasese Humanist School.

Your generosity is helping 125 learners access education through tuition assistance while also contributing to the provision of scholastic materials, staff support, and food security initiatives.

Every contribution makes a difference. Whether it helps a child obtain a mathematical set, enables a student to attend school, supports a teacher, or helps us grow food for our learners, your support is creating meaningful opportunities for children in our community.

Although rising food prices and other operational costs continue to present challenges, we remain determined to use the available resources responsibly and seek sustainable solutions.

Thank you for standing with Kasese Humanist School and helping us build a brighter future for the children we serve. Together, we are making education more accessible, strengthening our schools, and working toward a more food-secure and sustainable learning environment.
