End of Year Report – Sponsor a Child Project
Organization: Kasese Humanist School
Reporting Period: January–December 2025
The Sponsor a Child Project at Kasese Humanist School continues to provide access to quality education for vulnerable children in Kasese District. With support from GlobalGiving donors, the project addressed key barriers to learning by covering school fees, providing learning materials, meals, and basic child welfare support.
Beneficiaries
During the reporting period, 75 children (girls: 40, boys: 35 aged between 6 – 18 were supported. Most beneficiaries come from low-income families, including orphans and children from single-parent households. These are distributed in the primary schools and a secondary school we manage.
Key Achievements
• All sponsored children attended school consistently due to timely payment of school fees.
• Scholastic materials such as books, pens, and exercise books were provided, improving classroom participation.
• Sponsored children received daily meals at school, contributing to better health, concentration, and attendance.
• Academic performance improved, particularly in reading, writing, and numeracy.
• Guidance and counseling sessions supported children’s emotional well-being and promoted child protection and humanist values.
Impact
The project reduced absenteeism and dropout rates among sponsored learners. Children showed increased confidence and motivation to learn, while parents and guardians reported reduced financial pressure and greater engagement in their children’s education.
One parent noted:
“My child no longer misses school and is now performing better because of the sponsorship.”
Challenges
Rising costs of food and school supplies and difficult home environments for some learners remained challenges. However, careful budgeting and donor support enabled the project to continue meeting its objectives despite the fact that we haven’t realized our goal.
Scores of vulnerable children continue being in school and still require more child sponsors to support them but the good thing we have kept them studying as the search for Sponsors or Foster parents continues.
Financial summary of funds received through GlobalGiving:
In the 2025 financial year, Kasese Humanist School received a total of USD 5,761.65 in disbursements from GlobalGiving. These funds were transferred through monthly disbursements and supported the school’s ongoing project to sponsor needy and vulnerable children. The funds contributed toward essential educational costs including school fees, meals, scholastic materials, uniforms, and general student welfare. GlobalGiving support continued to play a critical role in ensuring access to education for disadvantaged learners throughout the year.
Looking Ahead
In the coming year, Kasese Humanist School plans to maintain support for current beneficiaries, strengthen academic monitoring, and seek additional resources to expand sponsorship opportunities to more children in need.
Appreciation
We sincerely thank GlobalGiving and all donors for your continued generosity. Your support is transforming lives and giving vulnerable children the opportunity for a brighter future through education. We are lucky that in this first year we have reached past 6000 $US, registering two donors offering recurring monthly donations and have so far registered 37 donations.
All in all, we are hoping for the best in this coming year.
On behalf of Kasese Humanist School Limited, we wish the entire team at GlobalGiving happy holidays and a fruitful new year.
