In Haiti, Build Change has opened a training center in the North. The launch of the training center took place on May 4th 2016 in Trou du Nord with USAID representatives, including the chief of economic growth and agricultural development. The state was represented by the mayor, and Institut National de Formation Professionnelle (INFP) was also among distinguished guests.
Past, actual, and potential partners were also represented at the inauguration such as CANADO Technique, CECI, Global Communities, DFS Construction, USAID/LEVE program. The private sector of the North was represented with among them block manufacturers and builders. Registration started and 24 young apprentices are benefiting from the courses. Registration is still ongoing for the next group of trainees.
In addition to scaling our training program, we have also begun our school retrofitting program in earnest. We held awareness days with students to explain how their school was retrofit and why.
