Action Two Africa Quarterly Impact Report

By Humphrey Muchuma | Project Leader

For more than a decade, Action Two Africa (A2A) has been strengthening the capacity of families and communities through programs that support education, livelihoods, health, and overall well-being. Our work helps caregivers provide essential needs for children, including food, shelter, school fees, and educational materials.

Education remains a key focus area for A2A. Many children and families continue to face significant economic challenges that limit access to education. Rising school fees, increasing costs of uniforms and learning materials, and broader financial hardships place considerable strain on caregivers. These challenges contribute to school absenteeism and increased risk of students leaving school before completing their education.

To address these barriers, Action Two Africa continues to support children from vulnerable and low-income households to remain in school. During this reporting period, A2A helped ensure that four children remained enrolled in school through the payment of annual school fees. In addition, five children were referred to the County Development Fund for educational support.

A2A also continues to strengthen household economic stability through income-generating activities. Currently, 50 families are participating in livelihood programs designed to increase household income and improve their ability to support their children’s educational and basic needs. Through a partnership with WaterStep International, participating families received coffee seedlings and fruit seedlings to support agricultural production and long-term income generation. The partnership also provided equipment for local bleach production, creating additional opportunities for economic empowerment.

One of the most significant achievements this quarter has been the ability of 50 women participating in the program to provide school supplies and educational materials for their children. These families continue to meet every Saturday to discuss business progress, share experiences, and support one another in strengthening their livelihoods.

Through the partnership between Action Two Africa and WaterStep International, a community radio program was launched to raise awareness about water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). The program educates community members on topics such as handwashing, safe water practices, proper cleaning of utensils, and other important public health measures. This initiative is helping to increase community knowledge and promote healthier households.

Looking ahead, Action Two Africa plans to continue collaborating with like-minded organizations to expand support for families and children. The need for educational assistance remains substantial, and the organization will continue seeking bursaries and other resources to help more children access and remain in school.

We are sincerely grateful to our friends, supporters, and partners, especially GlobalGiving, for their continued support and commitment to our mission.
