Poverty, compounded by HIV/AIDs and a weakening of community structures, has created a dangerous environment for many vulnerable children within the Bungoma community. Add to that a lack of food security, proper shelter, growing rates of child sex trafficking, pregnancy, and school drop-outs, and we recognize there is a real crisis within this community. These problems are a direct reflection of a community without access to proper education.
Action Two Africa wants to meet this need by providing academic sponsorships for children in Bungoma. Our goal is to try to raise funds, which will allow sponsorships to be provided for vulnerable children within this community. Equipped with an education, these children have the potential to make a difference within their community, and change the direction of their future. Sponsorship provides more than an education; they also give encouragement, support, and hope.
The importance of education to the future of Kenya, and the world, cannot be overstated. Through education, children are empowered to make changes in their communities and overcome the shackles of poverty. This enables children to better themselves, their communities, and the world as a whole. Give a child an education and you give them more than opportunities; you give them hope for the future, the chance to make a difference, and the tools to give back.
