In Kenya students whose parents can't afford to purchase school uniform are not allowed into both Primary and secondary schools. We believe that uniforms empower children to carry out their dreams, because something as small as lack of a uniform can often be a deterring factor in the lives of children in our community . Dress for excellence school uniform project equips a child with full school uniform and shoes as well as basic school supplies and it enable them to go to school with confidence
Thousands of students in our rural communities have seen their dreams of continuing with education ended for lack of funds to pay school fees and purchase school uniform. This happens every year when students are expected to transition from one level of education to another. In fact Kenya is promoting 100% transition for all learners is making it difficult for majority poor children especially girls to transition from primary to junior secondary.
We want to provide school uniforms to school going children who are unable to afford them due to poverty or poor socio-economic circumstances. In each kit we shall provide a pair of school shoes, 2 pairs of socks, a school skirt/ shorts, shirts, a jersey and other basic school supplies such as pads and pants for girls. During distribution we hope to conduct training with girls about sexual reproductive health and empower girls with knowledge and skills .
Dress for excellence project , for just US$ 250 a year, takes the pressure off families who may not have the funding to buy these necessities themselves, and allows the children a chance of an education that they might not otherwise have been privy to. The beneficiaries are able to keep their dreams and hopes alive. An empowered student is a great asset to his family and community and who will come to transform the whole community .When you educate the girl ,you educate the whole village .
