GlobalGiving Quarterly Report

Project Title: Sponsor a Child’s Education

Implementing Organization: TAJPI

Reporting Period: July – September 2025

1. Introduction

The Sponsor a Child’s Education Project by TAJPI Tanzania empowers vulnerable children in Arusha and Manyara to access quality education and break the cycle of poverty. Many families cannot afford essential school needs such as uniforms, meals, and books despite free primary education. This project provides full sponsorships covering tuition, supplies, daily lunches, health check-ups, and mentorship. By supporting one child, donors help ensure consistent attendance, improved performance, and renewed hope. Together, we can transform lives through education—opening doors to opportunity, dignity, and a brighter future for children and their communities.

During this quarter, TAJPI made significant strides in advancing our mission to promote children’s education and safeguard their right to learn. Our main focus was on conducting a Preliminary Study in Akko Primary School, Marera, and Rhotia Primary School—both located in Rhotia Village, Karatu District. The study aimed to assess the community’s awareness of children’s educational rights and to identify children from disadvantaged backgrounds in need of support.

2. Key Activities and Achievements

A. Community Awareness Study

Between September and October 2025, TAJPI carried out a community study engaging parents, teachers, and local leaders. The findings revealed a strong willingness within the community to support educational initiatives, though economic challenges continue to limit access to quality education for many children.

B. Identification of Beneficiaries

Through the study, TAJPI successfully identified 21 children in need of educational support. These children come from families struggling with poverty, loss of parents, or other socio-economic hardships that hinder their schooling.

C. Engagement of a Volunteer Matron

We are pleased to introduce Mrs. Emerentiana Gaa (50), a widow and former kindergarten teacher from Rhotia. Despite personal challenges following the loss of her husband, Mrs. Gaa has continued to dedicate her time to helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Inspired by her commitment, TAJPI invited her to join our initiative as a volunteer assistant and matron.

Her role includes:

  • Monitoring the academic progress and well-being of the 21 children.
  • Supporting them with after-class lessons.
  • Engaging their families to strengthen home-based learning support.

Her compassionate service is already making a meaningful difference in the children’s motivation and consistency in attending school.

4. Next Quarter Plans (October – December 2025)

In the coming quarter, TAJPI plans to:

  1. Distribute essential learning materials to the 21 children.
  2. Continue monitoring their academic and emotional progress through our volunteer matron.
  3. Conduct a small fundraising drive ahead of Christmas and New Year, to provide children with holiday gifts and school preparation items for 2026.
  4. Strengthen collaboration with local education stakeholders to increase awareness on children’s right to education.

5. Appreciation

We sincerely thank all our donors and supporters on GlobalGiving and within our local community for their generosity and trust. Every contribution—no matter the size—brings hope and opportunity to a child in need. Together, we are shaping brighter futures, one child at a time.
