It has been a busy year at CasaSito as it marks our 20th Anniversary a milestone that we celebrated with a 10K race in June joined by all 111 scholars. Attended by friends and supporters of CasaSito, the event was especially meaningful as it provided a rare opportunity for scholars and their families to come together from Alta Verapaz, Quiché, and Sacatepéquez.
In July, the application process for the 2025 Youth Development Program began. This has involved giving presentations to families and schools, interviews with applicants, and home visits for socioeconomic assessments, and final evaluation interviews to determine who will be offered a CasaSito scholarship next year. Your support is a valued part of this process as donations ensure we are able to continue providing our program to over 110 young people annually.
As the academic year comes to a close in Guatemala, scholars are busy with exams and end-of-year activities. We are proud of their achievements and dedication to their education and future. As a team we are busy preparing for the new academic year and welcoming new scholars into the program.
‘Beyond the academic support, what I value most about CasaSito is the personal growth it has given me. It has taught me to trust myself more, to be more independent and to believe in my abilities. I feel that now I have more tools to make conscious decisions, face challenges with a positive attitude and continue developing myself as a person’ (CasaSito Scholar 2024) ‘Within CasaSito I have felt understood, they have been very patient and flexible with all the difficulties I have had, I feel that it is my second home and there I find a lot of peace. I greatly appreciate the opportunity and all the support that they have given me throughout these years, not only financially, but also morally’ (CasaSito Scholar 2024).
Thank you for helping to shape a brighter future for the youth of Guatemala. Your contributions are making a significant and lasting impact on their lives.
